Green Cove Springs is a located in northeast Florida. First settled in the mid-1800s, Green Cove Springs is best known for its natural sulfur springs and its location on the St. Johns River, a bit south of Jacksonville. The city not only offers outdoor recreation, but also a number of exciting annual events enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike. The Memorial Day River fest features over 100 food and craft vendors, kids zone, all-day live entertainment, and a large fireworks show at night. The Soul Food Festival is another fan favorite; held the first Saturday in October, the event includes a parade as well as live entertainment and endless amounts of delicious food.

New Residential Development

Jacksonville developer LandMar is in the works to build 4,200 homes, ranging in price from the mid-$100,000s to $600,000, on the 2,400-acre site. Retail space, churches, offices, a 19-acre park and a hospital will make up approximately 1 million square feet of commercial area.
Housing also will include rentals, a golf course community and an active adult, age-restricted community. Recreational features will include a swimming pool, gym, play area and fitness center, anchored by a village square. The developer also plans to include a number of biking and walking paths to promote alternate forms of transportation.
Additionally, LandMar plans to donate two plots for an elementary school and a middle school. Other improvements include the widening of Shedd Road to four lanes from County Road 315 to US 17 and the widening of County Road 315 from two lanes to four lanes from US 17 to Florida 16.
